Lesli Johnson, MFT
Everybody has a unique story comprised of their life experience. Achievement of good mental health and well being is the ability to connect the dots of your story and create a coherent narrative. We will collaborate together and do just that.
I’ve chosen to work in this field primarily because of my curiosity and love of people. It is a privilege to be invited into people’s lives during some of their most vulnerable moments. I believe the therapeutic process is an effective way to make and experience lasting change. My work with clients suffering from PTSD and attachment ruptures has resulted in more symptom reduction since I became trained in EMDR and Brainspotting. My work with the adoption community continues to evolve in ways I never imagined and now includes coaching, groups, conference presentations and published work. In 2015 I began teaching at Pepperdine University, my Alma mater, instructing and guiding emerging therapists! I continue to stay current with the latest research on brain science and attend regular trainings on therapeutic modalities that will best serve my clients.
It’s no secret that I am passionate about my work. Our brains are remarkable and now we have the scientific evidence that shows neural changes take place throughout our lifespan. The brain wants to move toward wholeness and integration. We can stimulate and strengthen our brains and achieve calm, confidence and compassion. It’s never too late for healing and transformation to take place. I find this incredible.
Our sessions will be tailored to you. I bring my knowledge and expertise to each meeting and together we will transform trauma and uncover old coping skills that were adaptive in earlier years but may be outdated and no longer serve you today. We’ll make sense of your story. I will help you discover your inner resilience, acquire new tools to decrease anxiety and depression and move forward with a better understanding of your inner world that will ultimately serve you in your relationships and life.
I look forward to working with you.
